Teaching at UTSC has been the best experience. I’ve taught at St. George for two years, and it can’t even compare.

Primarily because there are more people of colour here, there are working class students. And they reflect my own background.

And I see them in community. I see them at church near my home, where I didn’t expect to see anybody. I’ve seen them at the mall. So that feeling that I am part of a community has been really fulfilling.

I think the student groups, they really try to foster that sense of community. I’ve never seen a place where the student groups are so engaged to move forward in the same direction [as] the community.
