Born and raised in Scarborough, Bruce Kidd, who served as the principal of UTSC from 2014-2018, recounts his various connections to the campus in this interview. He discusses his time frequenting the Highland Creek Valley as a child and his eventual recruitment to the UofT track team as a young runner from Malvern Collegiate. Following a whirlwind athletic career, he then joined the St. George campus as a faculty member in the 1970s, and reflects on the “U of T federalism” that he observed in the relationships between the three campuses. Bruce then looks back positively at his time as principal at UTSC and describes his various efforts to advocate for the campus, resulting in the development of significant additions to the campus, such as the Pan Am Centre and the renovated Valley trail.
